Who writes this site
Written by the Rack and Tent editorial team. We sign as a team, not with a personal name, and we never use an invented persona. Our method is the same on every page: we read the makers' and stores' published product pages, quote the figures with the date we read them, run the calculations shown on the page, and pick models with written rules, never by commission. We have not bought, mounted or slept in the tents we compare. The full method, with every source and date, is on How we compare.
Every figure on the site is quoted from a maker's or store's page with the date we read it. Calculations are marked [calc] and explained on the page that uses them. When a maker publishes nothing, we write "not published" instead of guessing.

What this site is, and is not
Rack and Tent compares rooftop tents, roof racks, awnings and coolers sold in the United States from the figures their makers and stores publish, and offers calculators to check a tent against your own roof and rack ratings, your crew and your garage. It has not tested any product, is not affiliated with any brand, and gives no installation instructions: mount every product as its manual says. Brand names belong to their owners.
