Rack and Tent is an independent website. It may be paid through affiliate links: when you click a link to a store and buy, the store may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. This is a material connection under the FTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), so we disclose it at the top of every page with such links, close to the links themselves, and here.
Where we stand on November 7, 2026
- No affiliate program has accepted the site yet: every link goes to the store's product page without tracking.
- Programs we intend to apply to, all on the AvantLink network: ROAM Adventure Co., iKamper, Roofnest, Yakima, Cascadia Vehicle Tents, Rhino-Rack USA, Engel Coolers and Bison Coolers. Naturnest runs its program on Impact.
- Overland Kitted, Trail Recon, Kodiak Outfitters, Canyon Coolers and Grizzly Coolers: we found no affiliate program open to a site like ours. Their links are plain links. We list them because they sell products we compare, sometimes for less than the brand store, and the cheapest seller is always shown first.
How we work
- We have not bought, mounted or tested any product. We never describe comfort, wind noise, leaks or durability from experience. We compare what the makers and stores publish on their product pages.
- Every figure has its source and the date we read it (November 7, 2026). When a figure is not published, we say "not published".
- Our calculators apply published figures and the ratings you type from your own manuals, with simple arithmetic explained under each tool. Calculations are marked [calc].
- No brand pays to be listed or ranked. "Our picks in 30 seconds" follow a written rule: the cheapest product that meets the stated condition. Tables are sorted by price or by the tool's result. The commission never decides: a store without any program can be first.
- We publish no customer reviews, no scores, no stars and no "tested" claims (see also the FTC rule on fake reviews and testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465).
Prices
Prices are those shown by the stores on the day we checked, including sale prices. A struck-through price is the store's own compare-at price; we never compute a discount. When several stores sell the same product, we list each one's price, cheapest first. Prices change often: check the store before you buy. More detail: How we compare.
